The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro is probably one of the most powerful smartphones that can be purchased for $ 150.
With a 5-inch IPS screen at 720p resolution, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and 3GB of RAM, this comfortable, small and powerful at the same time is a real surprise, and makes us rethink why we would spend several hundred dollars more for a smartphone
In addition to the mentioned features, the Redmi 3 Pro includes a fingerprint reader on the back, accompanied by a 13 MP camera with PDAF and a very good performance LED flash, a 5 MP front camera for selfies and a manufactured chassis in excellent finish aluminum, even better than other manufacturers trying to get closer to its price. For $ 150, our expectations were not very high for the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro, but its manufacturing quality surprised us pleasantly. Nowhere do we find poorly made or poorly aligned finishes and to the touch the metal of the Redmi 3 Pro feels very good, not at all cheap. Its upper frame around the screen enhances the premium appearance and it is very difficult to get a smartphone with such dedication for its manufacture in this segment.
The rear camera lens barely protrudes, almost imperceptibly, and your fingerprint reader is solid and responds very well with each use. On the back the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro has a wide loudspeaker grille that occupies a good part of the bottom. Its ignition and volume controls are also metallic and on top is the perfect fit 3.5mm headphone jack. Underneath, the perfectly aligned microUSB port is escorted by a microphone that, together with others at the top, cancels noise to improve the quality of calls.
Screen of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro:
The screen of the Redmi 3 Pro uses IPS technology and thanks to an HD resolution, this 5-inch panel has a very decent behavior. It is true that we are practically talking about the standard of today, when there are screens of two or four times their resolution and therefore a higher density of pixels, but in the case of the Redmi 3 Pro, its behavior is satisfactory, with bright colors and good visibility, although committed to sunlight – but no more than the average.
With a pixel density of 294ppi, the Redmi 3 Pro has an almost Retina resolution that for the iPhone has been enough for years.
Software of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro:
The Redmi 3 Pro runs MIUI 7.3 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. We would have liked a more recent version of Android, taking into account that Android 7.0 Nougat is already on the street, but the work that Xiaomi does with MIUI means that we do not miss the advantages of Marshmallow too much. The interface is strongly personalized and can also be customized to suit the user with available themes and many other variables that make it a flexible smartphone. The interface clearly follows the oriental tastes with a very strong similarity with EMUI which in turn follow the steps of iOS and some users might find this tedious – but it is Android and there is nothing that can not be improved by installing a launcher.
Xiaomi offers several tools to check security, clean memory and others, we could call bloatware, in addition to duplicating other apps such as browser, messaging and others with their own versions, but bear in mind that in China the Google store is restricted and is maybe why these apps are installed in the first place.
